Who this post is for:

  • Anyone who wants or needs to pass the ISTQB Foundation Level exam.

Here you can find some details about how you can prepare yourself for the ISTQB foundation-level exam and how the process is going from start to end. If you’re at the beginning of your testing career, at least you should have this certificate, why? Because, you should have some knowledge of testing and gain the know-how to test techniques, management, tools, and software development life cycle, whether you do your tests with the help of automation or without.

So let’s move forward.

  1. Our main goal is not only to finish the Syllabus by reading, but you should understand everything you read. Think about how you can apply what you’ve learned, for example, which test techniques should be used in which kind of situation on your test case writing and execution. Decision Table Testing or Boundary Value Analysis or Equivalence Partitioning…
  2. The format of the exam is multiple choice. There are 40 questions. To pass the exam, at least 65% of the questions (26 questions) must be answered correctly.
  3. After getting everything on the syllabus, you should solve all sample exam questions. I’ve also searched a lot for more questions and then bought a course that includes more than 1000 questions only! After completing this, you are absolutely one step closer to pass the exam. I’m totally saying from the heart, I gain a lot from this course and Mark is also answering your questions instantly.
Number of Questions Per Chapter

4. That glossary can be helpful. You can click on a term to see more information about a term

5. Below websites and books are also effective and have full of questions.

6. Exam access mail will be sent on the Mettl Exam System during the day. In the mail, there will be a test link to check the technical infrastructure of your computer, I would like you to run that link before the exam and contact the person in charge in case of a problem.

7. To take the exam, your computer must have a camera. Throughout the exam process, the supervisor will observe you from this camera. At the same time, your screen and the actions you have made on the screen will be visible to the supervisor during the exam period.

  • If you ask for permission to use one piece of paper, they allow!

8. When you start the exam, the system will ask you to take a photo of your face and identity. For this reason, you should have your ID ready with you.
Immediately after your exam starts, the supervisor will stop your exam for a short time and will contact you for the following topics. The time taken for these procedures will not be deducted from your exam time. You need to show your environment 360 degrees with your camera. You are not allowed to use your phone during the exam, the supervisor will want to show the phone to him and ask you to turn the phone off.

9. In the exam, you can leave the question that you are not sure about, and then return to that question again. When you click on the review button in the upper right corner of the question, it will mark the question you are not sure about in a different color and then allow you to reach this question easily. However, I recommend that you complete your exam without leaving any blank questions, as mistakes do not take away the correct ones.

10. After the exam, your result is sent to you by e-mail nearly 15 minutes later “You are entitled to receive certification with the success of 35/40…”

I’m adding some notes randomly. They are from Mark’s course on Udemy or ISTQB syllabus. I collected the most important ones in one document, but I can not put them all here.
